A thief doesn’t want to get caught, so simply marking your valuables with your Driver’s License number or Inland Revenue Number can be a good deterrent  The best way to do it is with some sort of engraving or etching device, making it very difficult to remove the identifying marks. For added security, and/or insurance purposes, photograph or videotape your most valued and most expensive possessions, so that in the event of a loss, you can identify them if they are recovered, or substantiate your insurance claim.
